Notes: This is my first foray into fanfiction, and writing in general (outside of academic papers). This has been bouncing around my head for the last week and I just had to get it out. Please feel free to leave reviews, I'd really like to know what everyone thinks of this, especially as I'm so nervous about posting it. Steve Gey is one of the best professors I've ever had the privilege to be taught by. He cares for his students and his passion for the law and teaching makes it impossible for the students to not love him, irregardless whether they agree with his positions or not.

He was diagnosed a couple years ago with Lou Gherig's Disease. He's recently deteriorated significantly to the point where he was teaching his classes via video conference from his home and now he can no longer even do that. He was rushed to the local hospital last week but he had been receiving treatment at the ALS facility at Emory in Atlanta so one of my other favorite professors got him Medevaced to Atlanta.

Despite his condition, he's very adamant about wanting to be at our graduation on May 3, despite that there's a very real chance he will catch pneumonia by being out of the hospital and die. Anyway, the point of this is there was a really touching article in the St. Pete Times about Professor Gey, his illness, and some students he's close to at the school, despite their difference in religious beliefs. I wanted to post it to maybe help share his story and show why the 3 years I've spent at FSU have really been a rewarding experience.

Oh page 13 how I love you. You are oh so close to page 15. Maybe I actually will be able to leave the library tonight by 2 am. If I can just get myself to focus. It's not hard to ramble on for 3 more pages if you've already done that for the last 6 pages right? Right.

World turned upside down...  
I've been hearing this song on the radio lately that I've been enjoying and liked but I didn't know who sang it. So, I hear it again just a few minutes ago and decide to look up the lyrics to see who sings it. AND IT'S PARIS HILTON. I'VE BEEN ENJOYING THAT NEW STARS ARE BLIND SONG BY PARIS HILTON. I feel all dirty now, like I will never again be clean. Of course, I'll keep listening to the song on the radio, but still. I'm surprised the song is as good as it is. I really thought anything she put out on the new album of hers would suck. And she can sign better than I can, although that's not saying much. Ugh.

Has anyone else heard this song? What do ya'll think of it? Please tell me I haven't completely lost my mind.

Booooo to Alberto!  
It looks like we're going to get hit with Hurricane Alberto either sometime tonight or early tomorrow. Heading out to do some grocery shopping after class to make sure we have food, because god knows we never eat here. Anyhow, it's possible I may lose power and internet during the week, so if you don't see me around for a few days don't worry. I'll try to get on to post should we lose power, I'm hoping if we lose it the FSU campus will at least have it. If anyone wants to get in touch with me, give my cell a call or my house in Tallahassee. Of course, if we lose power the house phones probably won't work long since they're portables.

Cutting Edge 2 is on ABC Family and it's almost as awesome as From Justin to Kelly. Almost but not quite, but only because the acting is marginally better.

X-Men Review  
First, non spoilery stuff for those who haven't seen it. Overall, I found it to be really enjoyable. I love me some Hugh Jackman in leather and I will definitely go see any Wolverine spinoff. Second, make sure you stay after the credits, there's a 20 second scene that's worth the wait. I saw it on midnight Thursday and then went back the next afternoon because I didn't know about that extra scene.

Ok, now onto the spoilery stuff...


Also, [info]purple_smurf, since Wolverine/Rogue is my new OTP a couple of questions for you.  Is it true there's a pic of a deleted scene from X2 out there of Wolverine grabbing Rogue and kissing her?  And second, in the comics did they ever address the kiss between the two of them or was it completely forgotten?  Hugh and Anna have such good onscreen chemistry they definitely need to write Wolverine and Rogue in as a couple into the comics.  Forget that loser Gambit (you know I love you leelee_cakes, but W/R is SO MUCH BETTER!)

XMEN!!!  
I'm going to see X3 at midnight tonight and I SO can't wait!! None of my friends want to go see it so I was going to go alone because they're all losers who can't appreciate good things ;-) So, I got my roommate Maria to go with me by telling her she was resigning me to a fate of having to be surrounded by a theater full of geeky teenage boys who love sci fi and that was enough to bring out the guilt factor. Haha, I love being sneaky and devious sometimes. I'll post a review tomorrow when I get the chance but I'm thinking it's going to rock hard.

Went out and bought the new Dixie Chicks CD today because first, I want to do my part to help boost album sales and second, I want their sales to be high to shove it in the face of all the idiots who sent them death threats. While I agree with their general sentiment that our President isn't doing a good job (and while I love that Natalie Maines had the balls to say that, I do think she could have found a more tactful way of going about it), I also strongly believe that a big reason why this country is so great is because we have freedom of speech. It really angers me when people get so upset because an individual or group has said something they don't agree with and so they flip out about it. Nothing anyone says ever should give people the right to threaten that person's life or the life of their family.

And as a celebratory side note, I got a really high B as my grade in Property II this past semester, so woot! One more point and it would have been a B+. I'm really excited because so far, that's my highest grade in law school and to add to it, I took less than 20 pages of notes all semester. Kind of funny when the class I took the most notes in has been my lowest grade so far.

Booo to Taylor winning idol. I'm definitely infected with McPheever. I love Kat and really, this may be the best thing for her in the end. I think it'll give her more freedom to do the kind of album and have the kind of career she wants rather than the manufactured one Idol winnders are forced to have initially. At any rate, I'll be there to buy her single the day it comes out.

Does anyone know where I can get a good screencap of Jeffrey Dean Morgan from the Angel episode Provider? I did find one cap of him but it was poor quality and so dark I could hardly see his face. Oh, and he played Sam Ryan that episode. Thanks!

Cancun Update  
So, since all my friends are still asleep, I thought I'd do a quick update. I'm having such an awesome time here. The water is absolutely gorgeous and they've restored the beaches for the most part, at least where we are staying. The people working at the resort are so nice, the waiters and waitresses back in the states could take a lesson from them on how to serve. I haven't gone out to a club yet, I was supposed to go last night but I ate too much at dinner and got sick. My other friends have gone out every night though and somehow managed to get access to the VIP areas. They said the couple hundred people in line were pissed when they got to cut in front of them all to go inside.

We're getting massages today and then tomorrow we're heading down a couple hours south of here to go look at some property my friends parents are thinking of buying as well as do some snorkeling. This definitely makes me want to buy a place here one day when I have money that I can come down to a couple times a year to just relax and have fun. I'm also getting sun, so yay to that. People keep thinking I'm from like Wisconsin since I'm so pale and I have to correct and tell them I'm from Florida.

Anyhow, I think I'm going to go head down to the pool and get some sun. Hope everyone is doing well!!

I'm leaving for Cancun in the morning for a week, I'll be back in the afternoon on Friday the 10th of March. Of course I'm way sick with a sinus and upper respiratory infection right before I leave, which totally ensures I'll have an AWESOME time while I'm gone. Talk to everyone when I get back.
